We have heard of many wanting to recreate their favorite movie scenes, have the dream love story and proposal which are influenced by their favorite movies. There are some things you can be inspired by fiction and lead a better reality. But as it turns out, there are people out there who would copy anything they see on the screen, even if it's a crime!
1) SAW
One of the most despised villains from movies is our beloved psychopathic mass murderer, Jigsaw, from the Saw movie franchise. He tortures his victims to commit self-harm to exit his elaborate traps they are in, to decide if they are willing to kill those around them to save themselves
Two boys from Salt Lake City went into depth about their intentions to create a torture room just like the one in Saw, to teach lessons to people who hurt others. They were also planning to buy cameras and camcorders to film their killings just like Jigsaw. They'd even decided on their victim, a police officer they met, and two girls from middle school. But thank goodness for the mother of one of the boys who overheard them and turned them in before they could execute their plan.
2) FIGHT CLUB
This Chuck Palahniuk debut book is psychotically dark and it explores the mind of a man as he is going mad. The film is about a group of men who formed a group called 'Fight Club' to change the world in the worst possible way.
In 2009, in New York City, a group of men attempted to commit a series of terrorist acts on Memorial Day, similar to those shown in the film. They set off homemade bombs all around New York, including one in a Starbucks. Kyle Shaw (Not Robert Paulson), a member of a local 'Fight club' was apprehended after he bragged about the bombings.
3) FIRST BLOOD
Everyone wants to be like John Rambo, to face their enemies single-handedly, but not everyone can be like him. Many young American men tried to emulate their hero in the Canadian wilderness after the 1982 action film came out.
One man even had to be gunned down after he had already shot and killed a soldier.
4) THE TOWN
This Oscar-nominated film tells the story of a man who is trapped between his loyalty to his criminal friends and his new love interest who witnessed their crimes. The story is more about the character's conflict, rather than the crimes themselves. But the crimes were done so smartly that some men in New York tried to copy their heist.
They committed 62 robberies and stole around $217,000 in cash. Following the film, they shut off the bank's power supply so that no-one could call for help. They also wore headlamps for miners to see in the dark and used bleach to get rid of the evidence.
5) SCREAM
The 1994 film Scream by Wes Craven changed the way these horror films would be made. The film showed the murders with so much detail that an American judge even said that it was a "very good way to learn how to kill someone."
The film influenced many copycat killers but 24-year-old Thierry Jaradin is still the most infamous. He befriended a young teen named Alisson Cambier and invited her over to his home. He put on moves to entice the girl but she refused. He then excused himself and put on the iconic 'Scream' costume. He took two large carving knives and stabbed Cambier thirty times just like the film's opening scene. He then called the police and admitted his crimes blaming the movie for his actions.
