Disney Takes 'Free Guy' and 'Death on the Nile' off their Holiday calendar

The world is at a standstill because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has affected every aspect of our lives, from day-to-day things to entertainment. Theatres are starting to reopen to the joy of all 'first-day first show' people who never misses any chance to watch the latest movies right as it's released. But to the dismay of these fans and the theatres, more and more movies are getting postponed or is set for a digital release.

Disney is one of the bigger names in the Hollywood arena and they have delayed its biggest films until well into 2021! Now, 'Free Guy' and ‘Death on the Nile’ has joined this list of movies that have been postponed. Free Guy and Death on the Nile were set to release on 11th December and 18th December respectively but both have been taken out of their release calendar.

"Free Guy", starring Ryan Reynolds, is a science fiction action comedy film directed by Shawn Levy, whose directing career includes major films and TV shows like Night at the museum series and Stranger Things. It follows the story of a bank teller named Guy (Reynolds) who discovers he’s an NPC in a video game, Free City, that’s on the brink of being shut down forever. Due to a program, he becomes 'aware' inside of the game and tries to become the main character.

The movie also features named actors like Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi. It also features cameos from popular gamers like Ninja and Pokimane. Originally, Free Guy was scheduled to release on 3rd July 2020 in the United States but was postponed to 11th December 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, it has been taken out of the release schedule altogether.

“Death on the Nile" is the latest Agatha Christie adaptation of the 1937 book 'Death on the Nile' and is a follow-up of 'Murder on the Orient Express'. It's a mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh. The film follows Hercule Poirot, the famous detective, played by Branagh who is investigating the murder of a young heiress aboard a cruise ship sailing on the Nile River. The film stars names like Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright, Armie Hammer, Annette Bening, and Russell Brand.

Originally set to release last year, the film has been rescheduled many times. And now Disney has taken 'Death on the Nile' off of their Holiday calendar.

Disney usually releases a film every few months and this pull-out move of movies plus the reluctance of movie-goers will be devastating to theatres!
