WhatsApp Disappearing Messages: Here’s how it works

>
WhatsApp has released their 'Disappearing Messages' feature globally after testing it out in a few countries and now us Indians can avail of this feature too. You can enable this feature if your WhatsApp is updated. After the new update, you will have this option but you have to first enable this option before sending the message.

This WhatsApp feature will work in both private and group chats. This feature will work on all three versions of Android, iOS, and desktop. After setting this feature, any message sent will be automatically deleted after seven days. However, this will only work for the message you send yourself, not forwarded messages or copy-paste messages.

You can update this feature for your individual chats on Android and iOS devices by clicking on the person's name, tapping on 'Disappearing messages', and selecting the 'On' button. The same method can be used to disable the feature by just selecting the 'Off button'. You can turn on this feature on WhatsApp for desktop and web too! As for WhatsApp groups, only the admin can enable this option by using the steps described above.

You might come to question what if you send someone a disappearing message and they don't use their WhatsApp for seven days, then what would happen? Would they see the message? Would they even get a notification? According to WhatsApp, if you have sent a message to someone after enabling the disappearing message and that person turns on WhatsApp after seven days, they will get a notification for your message but the message will disappear as soon as they get to the chat.

When you enable this feature, all your previous messages prior to enabling won't be affected and will stay in your chatbox. If you are unable to access this feature on your WhatsApp, please update your app!
