Prince Harry to become Chief Impact Officer for Silicon Valley startup, Better Up

After leaving the royal family and their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke of Sussex has joined a Silicon Valley Startup by the name of BetterUp to get a better financial holding. This news is confirmed by both parties, but they have not disclosed how much Prince Harry would be paid.

On Tuesday, the news broke out that Prince Harry has been offered the position of chief impact officer at BetterUp after disclosure by the company to CNN Business. This was later confirmed by a spokesperson for the Prince.

His position as a chief impact officer is usually seen in non-profit organizations, for the corporate world, it's almost unheard of.

In his position, Harry will contribute to product strategy decisions and charitable contributions. He will also advocate publicly on topics related to mental health.

As for the startup BetterUp, founded in 2013, they provide mobile-based professional coaching, mental health services, and mentorship to its clients.

Harry has been added to the company's website and his role is described as "humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate, and environmentalist."

Prince Harry has always been a huge advocate for mental health, even before Meghan Markle disclosed her mental health issues. He has launched multiple initiatives like the Invictus Games, which uses sport for psychological and physical rehabilitation of the armed forces.

"It's a meaningful and meaty role," the CEO and co-founder of BetterUp, Alexi Robichaux told the Wall Street Journal.

In a company blog post, Harry said that they "have a shared passion" for helping people and that he has used their services and has greatly benefitted from them.

He said, "What caught my attention about BetterUp was that the company's mission to unlock the potential in people everywhere necessitates innovation, impact, and integrity. Their team has been delivering on that work for years."

He also added, "I've personally found working with a BetterUp coach to be invaluable. I was matched with a truly awesome coach who has given me sound advice and a fresh perspective."

In his statement, Prince Harry said he wants to "lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities, and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations".

The couple has also signed a deal with music streaming service Spotify as well as the streaming giant Netflix to make programs.
